This compact fish surfboard features a short, wide, and thick outline with a flat rocker, offering incredible planing speed and effortless fun in smaller surf. Despite its playful design, it performs remarkably well in clean, quality waves and even in larger conditions.
The twin keel fish has its roots in the mid-1970s when surfer Steve Lis adapted the pintail design for his knee boarding sessions. His swim fins would hang over the edge, causing drag, so he split the tail to add extra width while maintaining the pintail’s performance. This innovation created a board capable of paddling early, dropping in late, holding tight in the pocket, and executing sharp top turns essentially a barrel machine.
Over time, Lis refined the design for stand-up surfing, and the fish quickly became a beloved classic, celebrated for its speed, maneuverability, and fun, adaptable performance across a variety of wave conditions.
