Unlike a traditional keel-based twin, the Machado 2 + 1 uses a more upright, performance-oriented template. The small rear trailer adds transitional control, enabling surfers to connect lines smoothly while maintaining tight, arcing turns. Rob describes it as ideal for “transitional moments,” where control and drive are both essential. “You can push the 2 + 1 in turns, and it will hold whatever line you're trying to draw,” he says.
