The TMLC is designed as a mid-length, suited to surfers transitioning from a shortboard. Easier wave catching with the length, combined with multiple high-performance shortboard features. It’ll have you making sections and powering into the bowl with speed to burn.

What is the general goal / theme of the board?
Mid-length with a high-performance theme. Performance tail with more nose area for catching waves.
What wave type / size does this board work best in?
Nearly all wave types, waist high or more.
What manoeuvres does this board do best?
Considering it's a mid-length, it will power through any turn, solid top-to-bottom surfing.
What skill level is this board for?
Novice to Pro.
How it its paddle power?
Above average.
What you thought of when you designed it?
Basically, keeping a customer happy, then realising the board would probably suit a range of people.
What it possibly compromises on then?
I really don't see any compromises with this board, apart from the customer; the board works best for capable surfers. Someone at least needs the ability to weave up and down the face as opposed to a style where someone just stands there and goes straight, then a flatter mid-length would make sense. Also, possibly super soft flat waves, extra rocker never likes that.
Shape Details and Design Info
OUTLINE: Performance bump squash tail, fuller nose for paddling ease.
RAILS: Totally melt in your hands, rails. Low with a nice curve, slightly more tucked tail rail, and just a nice, refined feeling the full length. It's the type of rail I would typically put into a Pros board.
The low rail also keeps a comfortable amount of flex in the board.
ROCKER: The rocker is basically stolen from a Banana longboard. The rocker will still carry along on something soft, plus have enough paddle power, but if the Longboard can go top to bottom, so can this board, so it has a generous rocker compared to other mid-lengths, allowing for more vertical and in-the-pocket surfing.
BOTTOM: Flat Bottom. The goal is maximum speed. SUNOVA’s unique flexy bottom adds another level of performance, so the boards are not as dependent on bottom contours anyway.
DECK: Not much to say. Looks good with wax on it.
FIN SETUP: Thruster all the way. My preference for now, but I know someone will ask for a different fin setup.
FINAL STATEMENT: A high-performance mid-length is ideally suited to surfers coming from a shortboard background or Longboarders who want to transition all the way down to a shortboard. A pleasure to ride.
Construction - Paraflex
Paraflex is SUNOVA’s premium performance construction. Developed over the last 5 years, from the ever persistent pursuit of perfect performance, It is our elite construction for all surfboards under 8’.
Paraflex is designed to have more spring and return in shorter boards than its Balsaflex predecessor, giving you a positive “more flexible” flex pattern as the board is loaded and unloaded through sections. Flexing and bending right into the pocket and rebounding predictably these boards fly out of sections with so much speed and life. A lightweight EPS core is coupled with a ½” parabolic balsa/composite rail that is then sandwiched between balsa skins top and bottom offering a product with unmatched spring and return.
The bottom is a 1.5mm Paulownia/fiberglass sandwich that is not completely rigid. This softer area on the bottom cushions the ride of the board, making it amazingly unaffected by chatter, giving you a smooth ride even when conditions are bumpy and average. The deck is a 2mm Paulownia/fiberglass sandwich with highlighted mini I beams that connect the glass under the wood, with the glass over. This creates a very rigid strong sandwich structure that is incredibly resistant to compressions, creating a strong and responsive feeling underfoot.
Finished off with solid balsa/composite nose and tail blocks for additional resistance to dings, these boards look even better than they perform. Fitted with a self-regulating air vent that utilizes a slightly permeable Goretex membrane encased in a special aluminum vent designed and engineered by TBF, Paraflex boards are functional and forward-thinking.
